M1

Pedagogies of Using Technology in Learning and Teaching

As the increased emphasis on applying technologies to meet the needs of the 21st century students, the effective and purposeful use of technology in learning and teaching is essential. The use of technology must be driven by pedagogical considerations to support learning goals. In this module, we would introduce a range of pedagogical approaches for technology integration, discuss how to design and implement technologies to enhance instructional practices.

Upon completion of the module, the participants would be able to:

  • identify the pedagogies of using technology in learning and teaching; and
  • select and implement technologies in lesson planning with pedagogical approaches.

M2

Experiencing Virtual and Augmented Reality

(VAR)

The use of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VAR) has become increasingly popular in learning and teaching to motivate and engage students' learning. Learning becomes more exciting and information is better perceived with the assistance of VAR. Through the learning activities conducted in VR CAVE and with the aid of head-mounted display (HMD), participants are able to experience with the immersive VR environment and better understand the learning effectiveness from the learners' perspective. In addition, other handy EdTech tools such as 360-degree panoramic environment and AR application would be examined in the module.

Upon completion of the module, the participants would be able to:

  • identify the application of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VAR) and related EdTech tools in the context of VPET;
  • describe the advantages of using VAR in learning and teaching; and
  • identify the key elements in planning and designing a VAR lesson.

M3

TEL Application in Your Teaching

Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) is increasingly popular in the VPET sector. It is an interesting task for teachers to use EdTech tools to enhance students' learning experiences. To facilitate the use of EdTech tools and plan for a TEL lesson, this module would be delivered in consultation mode to provide suggestions and ideas on the TEL instructional design and applications. Through an online individual consultation or comment on a recorded TEL lesson video, practical tips and tactics on TEL implementation in daily teaching would be shared.

Upon completion of the module, the participants would be able to:

  • plan and deliver the lesson with TEL elements and;
  • apply EdTech tools in learning and teaching.

Programme Structure

The programme consists of three modules with a total of seven training hours (includes four hours online delivery and three hours on-site visit). E-certificates would be issued to those who have successfully completed the three modules. A total of seven hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) would also be granted.

The programme is in modular-based. Participants are strongly recommended to complete the three modules according to the module sequence (i.e. Module 1, Module 2 and Module 3).
