About the Event :

AI technologies can drive change throughout the educational landscape, leading to redefinition and reshaping of learning and teaching. Connecting with and developing skills in AI is invaluable for being part of the rapidly evolving digital learning and teaching environments. AI brings great opportunities to transform the forms and ways of interactions and collaborations among individuals and environments. At the same time, those changes can also be viewed as having the potentially disruptive power to interrupt our usual practices and policies. In this webinar, The speaker will share how the affordances and challenges of AI in higher education.

Prof CHIU Kin Fung, Thomas

Prof Thomas Chiu is Assistant Professor of STEM education with a specific focus on mathematics and technology in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Associate Director of the Centre for Learning Sciences and Technologies, and a member of Policy Research @ Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.  Prior to this, he was Lecturer and School-university Partnership Director in the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong. He has a strong academic background in mathematics, engineering, and technology, with extensive school teaching and leadership experience.

Prof Thomas Chiu is also one of the keynote speakers at the Learning and Teaching Expo 2021.

Intended Learning Outcomes :

On completion of the workshop, participants would be able to:

  • describe the current applications of AI in learning and teaching within the Hong Kong higher education sector; and
  • identify possible challenges in designing a curriculum that includes AI or uses AI.
