About the Event :

 As an extension to the “Make 21st Century Core Skills Your Choice” workshop, this workshop will provide participants a hands-on experience of ‘Critical Thinking and Problem Solving'.

Participants will discover the following key features of ‘critical thinking' by progressing through the experiential cycle, which are solving non-routine problems and questions, considering different perspectives on issues, evaluating evidence for and against different positions and understanding the deep structure of issues. 





Facilitator(s) :

Winnie Pang has 20 years' experience in English language teaching, having worked with learners of all ages and levels of proficiency. Since completing an MEd in 2005 and the DELTA in 2006, she has continued to expand her teaching repertoire by finishing an IH teacher trainer certificate and obtaining the Core Skills Trainer validation from British Council UK. Winnie has become specialised in course design, material writing and teacher development.

Winnie is currently working as a Creative Educator of British Council Hong Kong, specialising in the Core Skill of Creativity and Imagination. She firmly believes in self-reflection, assessment for and assessment as learning, as well as the teaching strategy of ‘thinking out loud'.

Intended Learning Outcomes :

On completion of this workshop, the participants would be able to:

1. describe some effective ‘Critical Thinking' strategies;

2. apply such strategies in their own teaching; and

3. self-reflect and incorporate assessment for learning strategies in their own teaching.
