About the Event :

This workshop aims to give participants an insight into what positive education looks like in Hong Kong. According to Dr Martin Seligman, character strengths is the backbone of positive psychology. Hence, how to apply character strengths is a key factor to build up self-confidence to students. Moreover, there is a close relationship between character strengths and intrinsic motivation. Participants will gain an understanding of positive psychology and its application in educational settings. A review of recent research findings will be discussed.

In the workshop, the classification of character strengths will be introduced and participants will have chance to reflect on their own character strengths profile, including ownership of one's signature strengths as well as awareness of the shadow-side of particular strengths through practical activities. A strengths-based approach is used to help students understand themselves better and build self-confidence.

Facilitator(s) :

Mr Kwok Kai Chun, Remus is a social worker and the Project Officer of Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences of the City University of Hong Kong. He has been delivering Positive Education training and supports to non-governmental organisations and local schools since 2013.
