About the Event :

The seminar will comprise a brief history of games and an exploration of the societal importance of games, before an introduction of game design principles, the design cycle and the interpretation of gamification. It will close with a few examples of the speaker's own experience in game design and program design, some basic academic theories behind game-based program and curriculum design, and open the floor to Q&A and discussions with participants.

Vince is Managing Partner at Press Start Hong Kong, where he is responsible for business and partnership development, PR and marketing, and one of the instruction trainers on the Press Start Hong Kong team. He has a professional background in strategy and design thinking in financial services and consulting, as well as experience in educational curriculum development and teaching across different age groups.  

Intended Learning Outcomes :

  • Discuss the importance of games in educational, societal and historical aspects;  
  • Discuss the importance of flow and other game-based program design concepts; and 
  • Explain game design principles and the game design cycle to be applied to learning and teaching.
