About the Event :

To some educators, education in the 21st century is evolving from “Knowledge-oriented Education” to “Knowledge and Skill-based Education”. However, some teachers in Hong Kong are still focusing on teaching “Knowledge” and not providing sufficient opportunities for students to develop and exercise their “Skills” in lessons, especially their “Thinking Skills”. Professional training and support for teachers in enhancing students “Higher Order Thinking Skills” are also inadequate. “Thinking” and “How To Teach Thinking” can still be an unclear concept and challenging task to some teachers. Therefore, “Teaching Thinking” is considered as one of the highest priorities in enhancing teachers' professional development as well as promoting effective learning and teaching. In this workshop, the basic concepts of neuroscience will be introduced, with sharing of practical tips and case studies of implementing brain-based teaching.
