About the Event :

Games can promote learning motivation and generate positive vibes in a learning environment. How board games can be implemented in teaching and how the success factors of board games can be referenced in designing teaching activities have gained comparatively little attention. This workshop aims to explore the design rationale and educational values of board games, introduce facilitation skills of hosting board games as learning activities, and provide an opportunity for participants to play different types of board games and reflect on applying success factors of board games in teaching and learning.

Facilitator(s) :

Mr Matthew LI

Mr Matthew Li is a registered social worker and the founder of YUZU Board Game Counselling Centre, which provides board game-related counselling, consulting and training services to a wide range of clients, including counselling professionals, schools, businesses, etc.

Li is keen on revitalising learning with gamification. In addition to training experience with the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) and Youth College (YC), he was a tutor of the Certificate Course for Boardgame in Education supported by The Education University of Hong Kong and an instructor for the HABA Learning Programme, an early childhood education which integrates games into learning.
