About the Event :

In daily interactions, people may easily be categorised and judged by membership of a group, gender, age, ethnicity or past experience, which is a common shortcut to assess and predict people's behaviour.  This tendency can be a kind of psychological bias, positive or negative.  In classrooms, teachers' biases can lead to a negative impact on student-teacher relationships which will hinder the building up of trust as well as the learning and teaching activities.

This workshop is designed to help participants to recognise how the psychological biases affect our thoughts, expression and judgement.  By distinguishing presupposition and mindreading, tips on building a positive relationship with students will be shared..

Facilitator(s) :

Ms LAM Shuk Wing, Pinky

Pinky is a senior training consultant with more than 13 years of teaching experience. With her education background in social work and psychology,  she has been a senior Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner and a certified hypnotherapist.  Pinky's classes are fused with fun and positivity, which engage participants through the integration of psychological concepts and practical methods. Her approach in bringing self-consciousness to oneself helps participants to get a better understanding of themselves.

Intended Learning Outcomes :

On completion of the workshop, participants would be able to:

  • identify the unconscious psychological biases which affect one's perception and understanding in various domains; and
  • adopt practical skills to differentiate between presupposition and mindreading so as to promote positive student-teacher relationship.
