Pedagogies of Using Technology in Learning and Teaching

As the increased emphasis on applying knowledge to meet the demands of 21st-century society, the effective and purposeful use of technology in teaching and learning is essential. The use of technology must be driven by pedagogical considerations and supported learning goals. In this module, we would discuss how to implement technologies to enhance instructional practices and with a one-hour site visit to experience the latest Technology Enhanced Learning applications in VTC.

Upon completion of the module, the participants would be able to:

· Identify the pedagogies of using technology in learning and teaching

· Describe the key features of various Technology Enhanced Learning applications in VTC

Motivating Students with Educational Technology Tools

Educational Technology (EdTech) Tools has become increasingly popular nowadays. These tools offer teachers a powerful and effective way to engage students, help them collaborate with classmates, find and connect with information, as well as demonstrate their learning. In this module, you would explore a variety of EdTech tools that transform learning and teaching. You are also encouraged to exchange ideas with colleagues on how to use these tools in the classroom to facilitate student learning.

Upon completion of the module, the participants would be able to:

· Describe the status on the use of educational technologies in VTC

· Adapt specific educational technology tools to motivate student

Planning Learning and Teaching Activities with e-Learning Resources

The application of Educational Technology (EdTech) Tools opens up a new possibility to enhance students' learning motivation and active participation. To maximise the learning benefits, it is important for the teachers to design an all-round lesson plan to support the knowledge building process of the millennials using the EdTech Tools. This module is designed to guide the teachers to plan for their own TEL lesson integrating the blended and flexible learning pedagogies and the appropriate EdTech tools.

Upon completion of the module, the participants would be able to:

· Identify the characteristics and essential elements for planning blended and flexible learning

· Design lesson plans with e-Learning resources in proper procedures


Programme Structure

The programme consists of three modules with total nine training hours (includes eight hours face to face delivery and one hour site visit). A certification would be issued to the participant who can complete all three modules between AY2018/19 and AY2019/20. A total of nine hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) would also be granted.

The programme is in modular-based. Participant is highly recommended to enrol according to the module sequence (i.e. Module 1, Module 2 and Module 3) across the 4 intakes.
