Programme Structure

The 6-hour programme comprises 2 modules. Each module is equivalent to 3 hours of class contact.

Mode of Delivery

Our modules include lectures, discussions and group activities. In some areas, computer-based learning technology is also used so as to accommodate different participants' needs.

Completion Requirement

To complete the programme, participants must attend both modules. A certificate of attendance will be issued upon completion

Module Description

Starting from September 2014, part-time teaching and instructing staff can use the Central Moodle Platform at https://moodle.vtc.edu.hk for online delivery of content materials, communication with students and assessment of students' progress.

This module aims to introduce how e-Learning can support teachers' teaching and enhance students' learning at the VTC. Participants will have hands-on practice to be e-Learners and also acquire necessary and sufficient skills to create and manage a Moodle course. Some good practices will also be showcased to demonstrate the benefits of e-Learning.

On completion of the module, participants would be able to:

  •  identify the pros and cons of e-Learning
  • deliver resources and interact with students at the central Moodle platform
  • formulate teaching strategies to facilitate learning at Moodle

Positive communication and a well-planned lesson are equally important in facilitating effective learning. In this module, skills for motivating and managing the learning environment of diverse learners are highlighted. Core learning theories and concepts would also be introduced. Meanwhile, theories and practices in teaching, learning and assessment will also be examined in the context of the VTC.

On completion of the module, participants would be able to:

  •  examine the characteristics of diverse learners and their learning styles
  • select and use different techniques to manage the learning environment of diverse learners
  • identify learning activities and assessments to plan for effective lessons
