About the Event :
Case study research is employed to an in-depth, detailed study of a specific theme or issue. It is typically qualitative in nature, and resulting the narrative description of experiences. The major aim of case study research is to emphasise on the description and carry out the exploration of a phenomenon. The main characteristics of case study research are narrowly focused, high level of detail, and combine both objective and subjective data to achieve an in-depth understanding towards the research topic.
This workshop aims to provide an overview on case study methodology, and look into the application of case study method in VPET research. Data analysing skills and techniques of case study research will be illustrated with the VPET research in Hong Kong and other countries, such as Finland, UK and Taiwan.

Mr Derek Chun has been conducting research on education and youth development since 2010. He has participated in research projects funded by various funding parties. He is experienced in conducting research with qualitative and case study methods. Mr Chun is currently the Senior Research Assistant of Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching of The Education University of Hong Kong. His research interests include education research, career development, youth development, emotional health of teachers, and vocational and professional education and training.
