About the Event :

It is well acknowledged that teacher is a crucial factor contributing to student success and achievement. Enabling teachers' sense of wellbeing and boosting their emotional quotient (EQ) indeed are significant to ensure teaching quality, performance and productivity of work. In the first part of the seminar “The Teacher Within - The Journey is the Destination”, the speaker will share with us her experience in mindfulness and resilience skills training with teachers, how these skills can be integrated into everyday learning and teaching, and the way to address teacher wellbeing. The second part “Knowing EQ in Teaching” comes after with a sharing of how EQ affects teachers' work, and skills in handling emotion to relieve stress will be introduced.

Ms Simona Baciu is an innovative and visionary leader in education. At the beginning of the 1990's, as a teacher in a state school in Romania, Simona decided to start a school that would introduce change in the prevailing system and make a difference in the lives of students. Happy Kids Kindergarten was opened in 1993 in one of the rooms of her family's small apartment. This is how Transylvania College, today a well-known and prestigious institution with over 700 students, was born.  

As a Board Member of Round Square, Global Connections, Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation, and TedX Eroilor, Simona acts as an agent of change for education both at home and abroad. She has authored numerous articles and spoken at both national and international events and conferences promoting education for the 21st century, incorporating social-emotional learning, mindfulness and well-being.  

Simona believes that education should cultivate and nurture a love for life-long learning in everyone, while keeping an open mind, a curious heart and a caring soul for the world in which we live.  

Mr Dannie Cheung Kong Ting

Mr Dannie Cheung Kong Ting had been employed as senior executives of a number of international financial institutions, including Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited as Head of Commercial Division, Barclays Bank PLC as Head of China Market, UBS Bank as Executive Director & Head of China Team and Edmond De Rothschild, Hong Kong as Managing Director & Head of China Market respectively. He participates on various public services. He is currently a member of College Council of Hang Seng Management College, Director and Secretary-General of Hong Kong Bar Bending & Fixing Industry Association Ltd and Deputy Director of Financial Professional Committee of Guangdong's Association for Promotion of Cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong & Macao. 

Dannie was graduated and obtained Banking Diploma from Hang Seng School of Commerce (currently “Hang Seng Management College”), and he had studied continuously and obtained Banking Higher Certificate from the Hong Kong Polytechnic (currently “Hong Kong Polytechnic University”), Associate of Hong Kong Institute of Bankers from Hong Kong Institute of Bankers and Master of Business Administration from Hong Kong Open University. Dannie's lifelong dream is education and he is very interested in areas of psychotherapy and hypnotherapy. He had studied and obtained qualifications including Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy of Calamus International University, Psychotherapist of Wuhan University, Reiki Senior Practitioner, Fellow of The American Institute of Stress, Fellow and Founding Member of HK Psycho-Hypnotherapy Foundation.

Seminar Objectives:

  • Appreciate the importance of a positive behaviour with mindfulness and resilience skills; 
  • Identify strategies and tactics to improve relations within students and peers; and 
  • Identify skills in handling emotion to relieve stress.
