About the Event :

The workshop aims to enhance participants' knowledge and skills on career guidance and life education for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students. Challenges faced by NCS youths on education and employment will be illustrated with reference to demographic and social economic statistics, as well as cultures and religions of ethnic minorities. Through his personal teaching and guidance experiences, Dr. Ullah will show some key principles for participants to deal with the needs of NCS students on career education and life planning. Some examples of effective guidance intervention from his profession will be presented for participants' reference.

Facilitator(s) :

Dr. Rizwan Ullah 

Dr. Rizwan Ullah obtained his PhD in Education from The University of Hong Kong in 2012. His thesis focuses on the problems and solutions of learning Chinese by non-Chinese speaking students. Raised in Hong Kong, he received his education in Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo) in early years, where he now teaches. He is also working as an Educational Advisor for the Pakistani Students Association Hong Kong (PSA). 

Intended Learning Outcomes :

On completion of the workshop, the participants would be able to:

  •  identify some challenges faced by NCS students on education and employment, and 
  •  reflect on the knowledge and skills on career guidance and life planning for NCS students.
