About the Event :

For a better understanding of various pedagogical approaches to integrating technologies in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)* to enhance students' learning in a digital society, the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) has invited e-Learning specialists from Educational Design and Technology Division, Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore, to provide a seminar to share innovative practices of using ICT in curriculum delivery in the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Korea and Singapore). A workshop will also be provided to introduce the concepts of participatory and collaborative learning together with hands-on practice on how to adopt appropriate ICT tools and applications to engage students' learning.

* Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is a widely used term in the vocational training and education sector in Singapore.

Head, ICT Learning Strategies, ICT-Enabled Learning, Educational Design and Technology Division, ITE, Singapore

Ms Faith Foo has been involved in the training sector for the past 16 years. Her experience in both the private and government sectors has provided valuable insights of learning strategies for both students and adult learners. She works closely with the team at EDT to deepen ICT integration for curriculum delivery. This included piloting key ICT initiatives such as Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD), developing professional development courses for lecturers in areas of ICT such as Project-Based Learning, as well as working in consultation with the academic staff in the implementation of ICT to support curriculum delivery.

Mr Caleb Or
Head, Data Driven Learning, ICT-Enabled Learning, Education Design and Technology Division, ITE, Singapore

Mr Caleb Or has spent 17 years as an educator in Singapore primary schools, where he assumed various roles. He served as Head of Department, Information Technology & Media Resource Library in Kranji Primary School, and Vice Principal in West Grove Primary School and West Spring Primary School. In 2011, he received the Singapore National Day Awards (Commendation) for his contributions to education. He is currently Head of Data Driven Learning in Institute of Technical Education.



Intended Learning Outcomes :

Upon the completion of the workshop, the participants would be able to:

  • explain concepts of participatory and collaborative learning in vocational education  
  • select appropriate ICT tools and applications to support participatory and collaborative learning  
  • identify facilitation skills required to support students' learning using ICT tools
