About the Event :
This webinar explores the rapidly evolving landscape of digital evaluation tools. We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the tools, categorise them based on various features, and outline practical strategies for their implementation. Real-world examples from popular platforms will be presented, alongside methods for assessing the assessments themselves. We conclude with a discussion on the impact of digital assessments on student learning and engagement. Participants will gain insights into the effective use of digital assessments in diverse educational contexts.

Dr Michelle Reyes Raquel
Dr Michelle Reyes Raquel is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Applied English Studies in The University of Hong Kong (HKU). She is the project leader of the Communication-intensive Courses (CiC) Initiative since it was launched in 2018. Dr Raquel obtained a PhD in Education and has taught undergraduate and postgraduate applied linguistic courses in different Hong Kong universities. In addition, she was the project manager of several large-scale inter-institutional language assessment projects and was part of the team that launched the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Programme at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Her research expertise is quantitative data analysis, specifically Rasch measurement, and has published several articles in international journals on this topic as well as academic English, diagnostic assessment, dynamic assessment of English second language dramatic skills, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) testing.
Objectives :
The objectives of this webinar are to help participants understand the meaning, advantages, and disadvantages of various digital evaluation tools, categorise them based on their features, and articulate the impact of these tools on student learning and engagement. Participants will also apply the strategies in their respective educational contexts and understand how to leverage real-world examples from popular platforms for effective usage of digital assessments.
