About the Event

The Turnitin plagiarism plugin and AI writing detection service was enabled on Moodle for Academic Year 2023-2024 and Moodle for Non-Academic Year in January 2024.

This webinar will introduce the key concepts of similarity, plagiarism and academic misconduct. Interpretation of Turnitin Similarity reports and AI writing reports generated for student submissions will also be covered.

Additionally, the session will include a step-by-step demonstration for configuring the Turnitin Plugin in Moodle and navigating Draft Coach in online Microsoft Word documents, aiming to provide a practical overview for assessing student work and enhancing the feedback process for students.


Intended Learning Outcomes

    Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

    • differentiate between similarity and plagiarism, and efficiently provide customised feedback;

    • interpret AI Writing reports and address false positives of AI writing detection;

    • configure Turnitin's plagiarism plugin in Moodle assignments and quizzes, and utilize additional features such as defining rubrics and using grammar checking;

    • guide students in their writing process using Turnitin Draft Coach, focusing on improving similarity, prompting citation integrity, and enhancing grammar.
